Our new lunar cycle begins with New Moon in Sagittarius.
November 27, 2008 — December 26
New Moon at 5 Sagittarius
October 28, 7:14 pm EST
Well, shoot for the stars at this New Moon...and why not a female Centaur?! I remember outshooting the guys when as a child ('tween), my aunt, who was a gym teacher and liked to shoot with bow & arrows, taught several of us kids some archery. (I have Sag Rising.)

New Moon is on Thanksgiving Day, as all of you Moon-watchers have probably already noticed, which means it ought to be a good idea to include giving thanks in any New Moon rituals we do...though with Uranus turning stationary direct today, with Moon conjunct Mars & applying, before leaving Sag, to squares with the separating but still close Saturn-Uranus opposition, the annual football game marathon seems more descriptive (and a better option than speculating on alternatives).

A great deal of astro-speculation on what might go wrong, in seeing all those hard aspects on election day turned out to be unfounded, and forgotten in the excitement that prevailed...which at least supports my penchant for insisting that all aspects have the potential for positive manifestation. In this case, it was a resounding choice for change (Uranus) vs. the status quo (Saturn). So, let's choose to be enthusiastic (a major keyword for Sagittarius) at this New Moon, and set the tone for a busy and happy

month ahead, when despite the world-wide economic crisis, we can have a great time, if we choose to make it so. And we can do our part to brighten it for others around us, too.

This column will be short for now. I'm traveling tomorrow and not yet ready! I will likely add to it later. Meanwhile, if your birthday is in Sag (or even if it's not) look in on www.astrocom.com, click on Daily Horoscope, then the Sagittarius symbol and then Sagittarius' Year Ahead. I just wrote the update to that...and will be writing the others, one at a time, but so far only Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Ritual for New Moon in Sagittarius
Sag is a fire sign, so let's use fire for a New Moon ritual working. Start by preparing and lighting an incense. Use one with fire correspondence, such as frankincense or cinnamon or dragon's blood or copal. Get a container safe for burning (cauldron or metal bowl), and some paper and a red (preferably) marker. Create sacred space and at the time for your magical working, draw a big red arrow on paper and then write all around it the intent to be charged for this New Moon period. Focus on that intent, visualizing it in your mind and heart as if you've already achieved it. Creating the image can be a huge step toward manifestation! Waft the intent through your incense smoke and then charge it with added energy by dancing to drumming music or, if you prefer, by just drumming vigorously. When you feel your energy has peaked, then place your arrow in the cauldron and set it to flame. visulaize a bow in your hand, and an arrow sticking out of the flames. String it in your bow and point the arrow upward toward a star that you now visulize above you (or if you're outdoors when you can see one, pick one out to be your goal. Now with clear vision of the star as your goal, bring one arm back to pull your bow string, and release, as you visualize your arrow flying straight and true, right to your star! It is done:

By fiery arrow, Spirit bright
To star above I see
My goal is set, my vision charged
Success wll come to me!

Crescent Moon, 25 Capricorn 02, December 1 at 3:42 pm EST
We're challenged to continue increasing the light. Though we may be tempted to backslide, we can't let that happen...keep focused on the goal!

First Quarter Moon, 14 Pisces 08, December 5, 4:26 pm EST
This is the "crisis of action" phase. No more procrastinating! Do it! Now!

Gibbous Moon, 2 Taurus 46, December 9 at 6:29 am EST
Moonlight increases, almost full but not quite... plans are taking shape, but need something more. What is it? May need a little more research, a little more polish...

Full Moon, 21 Gemini 02, December 12 at 11:37 am EST
Round and very bright in the cold, winter air, she rises in all her magical glory.

Ritual for Full Moon in Gemini
Gemini is the sign most associated with communication and circulating, and the holidays are fast approaching. This Full Moon could be a perfect time to gather a group to make something special, with magical intent. One thing your gathering could focus on is making a big Yule wreath for the Winter Solstice rite. (Follow the links for Yule Ritual below to see what I mean.) My circle always enjoys making our big wreath together. We sit around the big circular frame (obtained from a garden shop) and weave into it greenery we've snipped from trees and bushes around each of our homes. We secure these here and there where necessary with florist's wire. For finishing touches, we can add pine cones and sprigs of holly with red berries.

When the wreath (or whatever your group has made) is compete, take it outdoors beneath the Full Moon and charge it together. Hold it in the bright moonlight, draw down Her energy, and savor it.
